It’s Good To Give
While it may seem that 2020 has given us some gifts we’d like to return, it’s still important to remember that giving can be healing. There are many groups in need, especially this year, when the Covid economy has negatively impacted donations to non-profit organizations. Below is a list of organizations that represent the spirit of both The Baby-sitters Club and the BoozySitters Club for you to consider on Giving Tuesday. And if you’re not in a position to give financially, remember you can also donate your time or help spread the word through a supportive post!
Fair Fight https://fairfight.com/
Founded by Stacey Abrams, Fair Fight promotes fair elections in Georgia and around the country, encourages voter participation in elections, and educates voters about elections and their voting rights. Fair Fight brings awareness to the public on election reform, advocates for election reform at all levels, and engages in other voter education programs and communications. As we all learned in 2020, educating voters about elections and their voting rights is critical.
The Actors Fund https://actorsfund.org/
Founded in 1882, The Actors Fund is a national human services organization here to meet the needs of our entertainment community with a unique understanding of the challenges involved in a life in the arts. Services include emergency financial assistance, affordable housing, health care and insurance counseling, senior care, secondary career development and more. This is the organization that supports the people who make shows like Netflix’s The Baby-Sitters Club series. These folks need health care and financial advice too! For Giving Tuesday, your donation will be matched, dollar-for-dollar, up to $10,000.
Days For Girls https://www.daysforgirls.org/
Days For Girls increases access to menstrual care and education by developing global partnerships, cultivating social enterprises, mobilizing volunteers, and innovating sustainable solutions that shatter stigmas and limitations for women and girls. Together, they’re creating a world with dignity, health, and opportunity for all. The movement has reached more than one million girls — and counting! Because girls can do anything they put their mind to, whether it’s launching a small business like The Baby-sitters Club or becoming a voice for change for their generation. With your help, Days For Girls can reach Every Girl. Everywhere. Period.
Feeding America https://www.feedingamerica.org/
The Feeding America network is the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization, working to connect people with food and end hunger. Donors, staff, and volunteers all play an important role in our efforts to end hunger in the United States. We live in a country where no one should go hungry, but we’re living in a time when people are struggling to feed their families. Feeding America can help.
Southeastern Guide Dogs https://www.guidedogs.org/
Southeastern Guide Dogs transforms lives by creating and nurturing extraordinary partnerships between people and dogs. The organization operates the most advanced training facilities of any service dog organization in the world. Experts breed, raise, and train elite working dogs—including guide dogs, service dogs, and skilled companion dogs—and provide life-changing services for people with vision loss, veterans with disabilities, and children with significant challenges such as vision loss or the loss of a parent in the military. All services are provided at no cost to recipients. Southeastern Guide Dogs relies completely on private donations. Any donation made from now until December 31, 2020 will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $500,000. Because who doesn’t want to support canine superheroes?
Girls Rock Camp St. Pete https://girlsrockstpete.org/
Girls Rock Camp St. Pete empowers girls and women through music. The organization is founded on the beliefs that creative voices of all girls and women need to be amplified to create social change, that girls deserve positive role models and support for their creative endeavors, and that girls can be anything they want to be. Girls Rock Camp is not just about the music. Campers and volunteers alike learn how to take up space, use their voices and be each other’s allies and advocates. Just like the members of The Baby-sitters Club, right?
